Robin attended all four years and was a Maine West Class of '77 Graduate.
With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Robin Lynn Hatz, nee Gulder, 66, of Schaumburg, IL, on February 5th, 2026. She was born in Evanston, IL, on September 3rd, 1959, to Paul Ludwig and Dawn Dorothea Gulder. She lived a full life marked by compassion, strength, kindness, and deep loyalty to her friends and family.
Robin was an incredible mother and a devoted spouse. To know her was to love her. She worked at Palatine Ace Hardware for over 20 years and helped so many in the community with projects big and small. She valued all of the connections she made during her time there but most of all she cherished the family she gained, her Ace family. There was nothing she couldn't do and she could always be counted on.
Robin had a passion for all products of the Earth. Birds, bees, bats, and bugs were all close to her heart. Growing up spending time in Door County, WI with her family instilled a deep love for being outside and spreading the joy of the breathtaking beauty of nature. It wasn't hard for her to imprint her love of wildlife on anyone who spent time with her.
Robin's talents went far beyond her beautifully manicured yard that she loved planting and tending to. She loved to love people. Her hands were rarely still as she was always working on something for someone. For years she made equally impressive and delicious cakes for birthdays, graduations, fundraising events, baby showers, retirement parties and even weddings. She was happy to hem a pair of pants or repair a zipper and was honored every time someone asked her to undertake something more complicated. Whether it be an off the wall one of a kind Halloween costume (for an adult or a child), a christening gown made from a mother's wedding dress, repairs to a well-loved childhood toy, or the incredible guest book quilts she created for her daughters' weddings. Robin left no detail overlooked and was honored to be considered for these projects.
Robin was preceded in death by her son, Sean, parents, Paul and Dawn Gulder and brother, Steven Gulder.
She is survived by her loving husband of over 45 years, Rob, children, Jennifer (Scott) Wehrheim, Lauren (Andrew) Palmier, Heather, and Samantha (Carl) Hosp, five wonderful grandchildren, Charlie, Desmond, Kayla, Harper, and George, siblings, Debbie (Paul) Zulaski and Chris (Liz) Gulder, brother-in-law, Greg (Sharon) Hatz and many nieces and nephews.
Robin touched the lives of all who met her. She was the best. She will be missed by many and loved always.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made in the form of contributions to Friends of Peninsula State Park or Bat Conservation International
